Carbon Zero today announced that its 8 MW / 16 MWh Standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Hessen, Germany, has reached Ready-to-Build (RtB) status.

The project's RtB designation confirms that the key development activities required to advance the project toward construction have been completed. The 8 MW / 16 MWh Standalone BESS will provide grid flexibility and energy-balancing capabilities that are increasingly important as Germany continues to expand renewable generation across its power system.

The project benefits from a Grid Connection Agreement without Flexible Connection Agreement (FCA) restrictions, allowing the asset to operate without limitations on charging or discharging. Consistent with our broader development strategy, the project has been structured to maximize operational flexibility and support participation across a range of electricity market opportunities.

Battery energy storage is playing an increasingly important role in supporting the stability and efficiency of electricity networks by enabling the integration of variable renewable energy sources, improving system responsiveness, and helping balance supply and demand across changing market conditions.
